His Light Casts No Shadow (Take Heart – Lyrical Love)

His light casts no shadow - Lyrical Love

His light casts no shadow - Lyrical Love

In a time full of Christmas music, and holiday cheer, and family gatherings… there is brokenness still; there is emptiness still; there is loneliness still.

We all know people who probably won’t spend any time with their family this Christmas, or receive any gifts, or attend any parties.  The harsh reality of “joyful” times like this is that they are usually more painful for those less fortunate than we.

Fortunately, we serve a God that not only extends His grace, love, and mercy to ALL His children, but also instills in us the ability to love these people.  The analogy of God being light in the darkness… well… we’re his candles carrying that light.

One of my favorite new worship songs is Take Heart by Hillsong United, written by @JoelHouston.

There is a light; it burns brighter than the sun
He steals the night and casts no shadow
There is hope; should oceans rise and mountains fall
He never fails

So take heart
Let His love lead us through the night
Hold on to hope
And take courage again

In death by love; the fallen world was overcome
He wears the scars of our freedom
In His Name; all our fears are swept away
He never fails

All our troubles and all our tears
God our hope, He has overcome
All our failure and all our fear
God our love, He has overcome
All our heartache and all our pain
God our healer, He has overcome
All our burdens and all our shame
God our freedom, He has overcome
All our troubles and all our tears
God our hope, He has overcome
All our failures and all our fear
God our love, He has overcome
God our justice, God our grace
God our freedom, He has overcome
God our refuge, God our strength
God is with us, He has overcome

Our troubles, our tears, our failure, our fear, our heartache, our pain, our burdens, our shame – God our Hope, our Love, our Healer, our Freedom, our Justice, our Grace, our Refuge, our Strength – He is with us – He has overcome.

Wherever you’re at this Christmas season in your walk with Christ, know this: He loves you, and He has overcome whatever keeps you from loving Him in return.  Put your trust in Him today.  Don’t wait.

His love is so worth it.

This is one of my favorite worship songs at Substance. It always brings the tears to my eyes knowing no matter what God is always accepting, loving and graceful to us, he is always with us. When things have been rough over the past few months this song always came into my head and into my heart and gave me peace.

OK! I am commenting on your blog. Now where do I pick up my ??? What was it that I might win, I forgot. What did I subscribe to? I do like getting subscription emails. I get about 30 or 40 a day. Well maybe that is a bit of an esaggeration but not a lot. We love you and everything you do. I wish your were closer to us so you could teach me a few things and help me learn this computer. I know I am not using it to it’s fullest. Love You Sam and April. Judiht Hodgett

Hey grandma… 🙂 You haven’t won anything yet… you have “entered into a chance” to win. 😉
I wish we were closer too!!!

Well put! Sometimes it’s so hard for us to let go of our pain and our hurt. It’s like we’re running a marathon and we trip on a stick. Too often we stop and stare at the stick, thinking “how was I so stupid? how did I miss that?” and focus on the past while God is at the finish line, cheering us on saying “you can do this! Forget what’s behind and press on!” as He has overcome.

    Thanks for the reminder!

Thanks for this reminder Sam. I too love this song from Hillsong; I love it because of the radiant truth – He has overcome. It’s something I constantly remind myself of. NO MATTER, where I have been, how I have been beaten, spit on, trashed, He overcomes. None of this matters in the light of his face. None of it. It’s all apart of what we were promised, in this WORLD you will have TROUBLE, but I will OVERCOME. ((HOLLER!))

All our heartache, failures, fear, burdens, shame, troubles, tears….our hope, healer, lover, shepherd, care-giver, our judge, the freedom giver has over come. WOW.

    “Hold on to hope
    And take courage again.”

I think the phrase above will be my mantra for 2012. I need to take courage again. Not be afraid. God has overcome all I have done and all that was done to me. I can walk in courageous freedom into the plans He has for me.

Paul… I think it will serve as my mantra as well. I’m SO looking forward to what God has in store for 2012!
